Pregame Chat Southern Indiana Storm vs The West Virginia Wild Fire

Pregame Chat Southern Indiana Storm vs. The West Virginia Wild Fire!

It's been a long week recovering form the Tennessee game. Your Storm went back to the basics this week. It was football 101 as the Storm healed and learned for this weeks game against the West Virginia Wild Fire.

In last weeks game Center Alice Tedrow Dunn went down with a massive knee injury and is now out for the season. That injury forced the team to move Amy Arthur to Center for the rest of the game since starting Center Tia Wheeler wasn't able to travel with the team. The coaching staff was impressed with Arthur #79 at center so they practiced her there this week, moving Wheeler #62 to Left Guard and Rowlett #68 to Right Guard.

"This week was all about learning," said Coach Rowlett. He continued with, "the players have to learn the game and we have to learn where to put them to maximize our ability to control the game."

The Storm is now 0-1 on the season and look to turn things around going into Game #2 of the season.

As of this hour this is how the roster is looking for today's game.

Kayla DeWeese #10-Personal
Amanda Rippey #12
Natasha Rowlett #68
Samantha MacDonald #15
Ladema Welton #26

Lorene Hearth #89

Beth Arthur#43-Active
Alyssa Gill #85-Out Knee
Chyrese Gill #72-Out Personal Reasons
Kim Anderson #49-Out for the Season
Alice Tedrow #69-Out for the Season

With only 10 players 100% a "Go" the Storm have only a day to get another player healthy or recruit a last minute prospect. So again it is down to the wire for the Storm, sounds like an up hill battle. Then again this is football and anything can happen.

Game time in South Charleston is 7pm Central Time.

Update: The Storm once again will travel with a new player on Saturday. Earlier today the Storm recruited rookie player Amanda Campbell Brooks who will dress and start for the badly beat up Storm.

When asked about their last minute activations Coach Rowlett stated, "we have to get healthy, it's a must." The Storm has faced a mass of injuries since the start of the season. "We will keep doing what we can to put a team on the field and we will strive to get healthy going into the post season," Coach Rowlett added.

The Storm faces the WV Wildfire on the road this weekend, then Memphis at home, then next they are off do to Cincinnati canceling, then they catch a break for Memorial day because of the league being off, and then they are back home against West Virginia. "That two week break will do a lot for us getting healthy, training, and being able to recruit new players," Coach Rowlett added.
